Introduced to the public in 2014 at the Paris Motor Show, the Mercedes AMG GT was one of the cars that attracted the greatest attention. The two-seat sports car was designed to replace the SLS AMG. However, the new coupe is smaller than its predecessor and unlike SLS it was developed as a rival for the Porsche 911. How does the new GT R look and what does it bring?
Design offers a new direction
The new GT-R is a significant departure from the standard GT. It has a much more aggressive look and lots of design elements for racing cars. In front is a striking cooler with vertical lamellae. The front and rear fenders feature a sporty stance that extends the overall width of the car. The 20-inch wheels are also great. In the rear there is a wing for greater pressure. There is no massive double diffuser. The new Mercedes-AMG GT R is a very exclusive thing.
Minimalism and practical interior design
The interior offers a transition between the AMG GT and the GT3. The instrument panel and the center console are virtually identical to the road car, the rest of the interior and other features are designed to give the racing car the most impression. The interior features a range of premium materials, safety features and high-quality design.
Divine power under the hood
Under the hood is the 4.0 liter V8 Biturbo engine, which holds 577 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration from zero to one can be done in just 3.5 seconds. The maximum speed is limited to 318 km / h.
How do we feel about the new model?
Mercedes AMG GT RT is a spectacular vehicle. We appreciate the aggressive design, improved aerodynamics and exclusive features. Disappointment is a somewhat finer side of the car that could be more sporty and aggressive. Another minus point is power. This is respectable but does not achieve the qualities of the 911 GT3. In addition, the price tag is somewhat higher, despite the extras that the Mercedes AMG GTR has.
